Bell's Hopslam hit bars and retailers this week.

Comstock-based beer-maker Bell's Brewery started distributing its mega-popular, super-hoppy Hopslam IPA this week. Several bars across Metro Detroit are celebrating the return of the double IPA, which is brewed with six different hops and is 10 percent alcohol by volume.

Release parties and tappings will be held Thursday at One Under Craft Beer & Eats (35780 Five Mile, Livonia) at 3 p.m., World of Beer (42752 Ford, Canton) at 5 p.m. and at One Eyed Betty's (175 W. Troy, Ferndale) at 6 p.m. Friday Big League Brews (20428 Ecorse in Taylor) will start pouring Hopslam on draft at 5 p.m. CJ's Upper Deck (3270 W. Huron, Waterford) is also tapping tomorrow at 9 p.m.

According to the Beer Finder at BellsBeer.com, the hop-heavy craft brew can also be found at east side Kroger stores in Grosse Pointe, Harper Woods, St. Clair Shores and Warren. Merchants in Dearborn should have it, too.

Hopslam, which is available in 12 ounce cans or on draft, has a shelf life of about six months, but it usually doesn't last that long.
