Tigers avoid arbitration with Castellanos, 5 others

Associated Press

The Detroit Tigers have reached deals for 2017 with third baseman Nick Castellanos and shortstop Jose Iglesias on one-year deals, avoiding arbitration. Castellanos will receive $3 million and Iglesias $4.1 million.

Detroit also agreed to contracts Friday with left-hander Justin Wilson ($2.7 million) and right-handers Bruce Rondon ($800,000) and Alex Wilson ($1.175 million), avoiding arbitration with every player who was eligible.

Castellanos hit .285 with 18 home runs and 58 RBIs in 110 games in 2016. He missed most of the stretch run with a broken hand.

Iglesias hit .255 with four home runs and 32 RBIs last season.

On Thursday, the Tigers agreed to a one-year, $1.3 million deal with utilityman Andrew Romine.
