Former Lion Daniel Bullocks was hired by the 49ers as an assistant coach Tuesday.

Santa Clara, Calif. — San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan added ex-Lions Daniel Bullocks and Stan Kwan to his coaching staff on Tuesday.

Bullocks, who played four seasons as a safety in Detroit, will be assistant defensive backs coach. He entered coaching in 2012 at Northern Iowa and was assistant defensive backs coach in Jacksonville last season.

Shanahan also added former linebacker DeMeco Ryans as defensive quality control coach.

Ryans played 10 seasons in the NFL for Houston and Philadelphia. He won AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2006 and was a first-team All-Pro the following season.

In addition, he hired John Benton as offensive line coach, Michael Clay as a strength and conditioning assistant, Vince Oghobaase as assistant defensive line coach and Adam Stenavich as assistant offensive line coach.
