Joanne Lindsay, wife of Red Wings great Ted Lindsay, dies

Detroit — The wife of Red Wings legend Ted Lindsay has died, the team announced Thursday.

Joanne Lindsay, here with Ted Lindsay, served on the board for the Ted Lindsay Foundation, which raises money for autism research.

Joanne Lindsay was 81. She and Ted Lindsay were married for 27 years.

"Our thoughts are with Ted and his family," the Red Wings said on Twitter.

Joanne Lindsay served on the board of directors for the Ted Lindsay Foundation, founded in 2001 by the Red Wings great to raise money for autism research.

Ted Lindsay, 91, played in the NHL from 1944-1964, all but three of those seasons with the Red Wings. He also played for the Chicago Blackhawks.

There was no immediate word on funeral arrangements. The couple lived in Metro Detroit.
