Fat Tire’s Tour de Fat brings party to Detroit

New Belgium Brewing’s “Fat Tire presents the Tour de Fat” is bringing the party to Detroit in August as the festival returns for its 18th season.

The traveling philanthropic beer, music, and bike festival will kick off a 33-show season May 20 in Asheville, North Carolina, and wrap up Oct. 7 in Tempe, Arizona.

Tour de Fat hopes to generate more than $600,000 in support of local causes throughout the entire season; the festival will benefit Slow Roll Detroit, the company said on its website. New Belgium has raised more than $4.5 million for partnering nonprofits since Tour de Fat kicked off in 2000, and the goal this summer is to generate more than $600,000 in support of local causes.

Tickets will be available in advance online at Newbelgium.com/ tour-de-fat or at any of the box offices for Tour de Fat venues.
