Celebrity chefs Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis return with a new season of “Food Network Star” this June, and this season we’ll see a Metro Detroit chef in the mix.

Metro Detroit’s Suzanne Lossia is one of a dozen chefs joining the reality cooking competition when it returns June 4 at 9 p.m. on Food Network.

The private chef and caterer also appeared on an episode of “Cutthroat Kitchen” on the same network last year. A first-generation Chaldean-American, Lossia is a single mother of two and an author.

The final three contestants on “Food Network Star” get to film a pilot for their own show on the network.

“To become a Food Network Star requires top-tier culinary skills, an impressive television presence and the utmost dedication,” said Allison Page, general manager, U.S. Programming and Development, Scripps Networks Interactive in a press release issued Wednesday. “Each season our viewers are inspired by the journey these talented hopefuls take to go from novice to pro, and Bobby and Giada are the perfect pair to cultivate and determine the next ‘Star.’”

This season, the 12 new contestants will battle a team of alumni contestants from previous seasons. Special guests celebrities scheduled to appear on this season include Guy Fieri, Sandra Lee and Andrew Zimmern.
