Ex-MSU football player Auston Robertson in custody

Former Michigan State football player Auston Robertson is in custody, two days after he was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The Meridian Township Police Department posted Sunday on its Facebook page that Robertson was in custody. Late on Friday, hours after charges were authorized for Robertson in 55th District Court, the Meridian Township Police posted on their website that they were seeking to apprehend Robertson and were asking the public for help in locating the native of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The charges came after an incident on April 9 when Robertson is accused of assaulting a women in her apartment.

Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio announced on Friday that Robertson, who had legal troubles in high school before signing with Michigan State, had been dismissed from the team.

No details were given from the Meridian Police on when or where Robertson was taken into custody. Representatives from the department have not returned messages seeking comment.

The third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge is a felony and punishable up to 15 years in prison.
