Jim Brady’s restaurants to open in Ann Arbor, Detroit

Jim Brady’s Detroit, a Royal Oak restaurant with a history in Detroit, will open two more restaurants in Ann Arbor and in the Cass Corridor.

The original Jim Brady’s opened at Seven Mile and Greenfield in 1954 serving burgers, sandwiches, Caesar salad and other classics. Decades later in 2015, Brady’s grandson Tom Brady opened a restaurant in Royal Oak with his childhood friend Darin Dingman. The renovated restaurant, formerly the Oxford Inn, paid homage to the original with throwback menu items and midcentury modern decor.

Now, the restaurateurs are preparing to bring two more restaurants into the Brady family. (Tom Brady’s stepmother, Mary Brady, runs sister restaurant Diamond Jim Brady’s in Novi.)

Jim Brady’s Detroit of Ann Arbor is expected to open Oct. 2 at 209 S. Main between E. Washington and E. Liberty. Renderings of the two-story space show that it will look similar to the Royal Oak restaurant, with a “Mad Men”-era flair and a black and white photo of Jim Brady on the wall.

Jim Brady’s Detroit will open no earlier than 2018 at 3175 Cass, just around the corner from the Peterboro restaurant. The building was formerly Chung’s Chinese restaurant.

In the meantime, the Royal Oak Jim Brady’s, 1214 S. Main, will fling open its patio doors on May 6. The restaurant is also promoting free dessert for all moms who dine in on Mothers’ Day, May 14.
