Start times, TV announced for MSU, UM basketball

The Detroit News
Nick Ward and the Spartans host Michigan at the Breslin Center on Jan. 13.

It’s time to update your calendars.

Michigan and Michigan State’s lone Big Ten meeting this season at the Breslin Center will take center stage on national television, tipping off at noon Jan. 13 on FOX.

The Big Ten released game times and TV designations for all conference games and select nonconference contests on Thursday. And for the first time in conference history, the Big Ten will air games on four major outlets: BTN, CBS Sports, ESPN and FOX Sports.

The Wolverines will play two games on FOX, four on CBS and four on FS1, while the Spartans will play twice on FOX, three times on CBS and four times on FS1. The rest of Michigan's and Michigan State's games will be broadcast on BTN and ESPN networks.

Perhaps the best news for fans is there won't be too many late tip-offs this season. Excluding the Maui Invitational, Michigan will have four 9 p.m. starts, with two at home (Dec. 21 vs. Alabama A&M, Jan. 9 vs. Purdue) and two on the road (Dec. 12 at Texas, Jan. 18 at Nebraska).

Michigan State will have three 9 p.m. starts -- all on the road -- in Big Ten play (Jan. 22 at Illinois, Feb. 6 at Iowa, Feb. 13 at Minnesota). The Spartans will also have an 11:30 p.m. tip-off in their opening game against DePaul on Nov. 23 in the Phil Knight Invitational.

Start times and TV designations for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge will be announced at a later date.
