Ron Gardenhire to headline Detroit Baseball Dinner

The Detroit News

Ron Gardenhire, whose debut season as Tigers manager will mark a major reconstruction of the team’s roster, will join Tigers general manager Al Avila, as well as catcher-first baseman John Hicks, as celebrity speakers at the 2018 Detroit Baseball Dinner.

The dinner is set for 6 p.m. Jan. 27, at the Polish American Cultural Center in Troy.

Gardenhire begins his first season with the Tigers after having earlier been a regular tormentor of the Tigers during his years with the Twins. He will speak, along with Avila, who will head the usual Tigers front-office dinner delegation, about the Tigers’ multi-season makeover.

Hicks will receive the Bill MacAdam Tenth Man Award as the Tigers’ top reserve player during the 2017 season.
