Local chefs: Sharpen your knives and make sure those plates are in ship-shape, because casting producers for Bravo’s “Top Chef” competition show are coming to Metro Detroit.

“We are coming into Detroit at the end of the month to scout the local food scene and find competitors for our season 16,” said casting producer Costa Nicolas in an e-mail to The Detroit News. “We are looking for chefs from all walks of life that have the skills and experience to win the series for Detroit.”

Chefs interested in being considered for the show can send an e-mail to to topchefcasting@magicalelves.com. Include your name, location, name of restaurant where you work, phone number and links to your social media. Also include some food photos that best represent your style, or a link to your Instagram account.

“We will look at everyone’s submissions and are super excited to touch down in Detroit where we have heard the food scene is changing the way we eat,” said Nicolas.

The filming location for season 16 is still under wraps, but filming will start in the spring. Season 15, set in Denver, is airing now on Bravo.

The reality competition cooking show – hosted by Padma Lakshmi and featuring judge and celebrity chef Tom Colicchio – has made stars out of many of its winners. In season 12 Dearborn native Mei Lin won the season, which also featured Mable Gray chef James Rigato.
