MSU receiver Trishton Jackson says he's transferring

East Lansing — For the second time this week, Michigan State is losing a young wide receiver.

Sophomore Trishton Jackson announced on Twitter Friday that he intends to transfer, just days after freshman Hunter Rison made the same decision.

“After much thought and consideration, I have decided to transfer from Michigan State University,” Jackson posted. “I want to thank my coaches for the opportunity. I have had a great experience here and want to thank my teammates for the memories. I also want to thank Spartan Nation for all of your support and I will forever be a Spartan Dawg.”

The former standout at West Bloomfield entered the 2017 season primed for a breakout year as the Spartans were thin on experience and Jackson was coming off a spring game where he had eight catches for 168 yards.

However, despite starting the first four games of the season, Jackson never produced on a consistent basis and finished the season with 12 catches for 143 yards. His drop late in the first half against Michigan was critical and soon after freshman Cody White put a stranglehold on the position as Jackson had just three catches over the final eight games.

Jackson, who had five grabs for 89 yards and a touchdown as a freshman in 2016, did not give any indication of where he was intending to transfer.
