NHL trade roundup: Bruins add Holden, Leafs get Fehr

Associated Press

New York –— The Rangers traded defenseman Nick Holden to the Boston Bruins for a minor league defenseman and a third-round pick in the 2018 draft.

Holden skated in 135 games with the Rangers over parts of two seasons (2016-17 and 2017-18). He had 14 goals and 32 assists for 46 points, along with 49 penalty minutes. He will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.

Defenseman Rob O’Gara went to New York in Tuesday’s deal with Boston, which entered the day in a tight race with Tampa Bay for first place in the Atlantic Division.

The Rangers might deal other players such as forward Rick Nash and defenseman Ryan McDonagh before Monday’s trade deadline.

They have seven picks for the 2018 NHL draft.

LEAFS ADD FEHR

The Toronto Maple Leafs traded forward Eric Fehr to the San Jose Sharks for a seventh-round draft pick in the 2020 draft.

The 32-year-old Fehr played in four games with the Leafs this season. He was loaned to the AHL’s San Diego Gulls in November, where he’s had 17 goals, 11 assists and 33 penalty minutes in 34 games with San Diego.

The Sharks are in a tight race with Anaheim for second place in the Pacific Division.

Fehr, a 2003 first-round pick of Washington, has 103 goals and 99 assists in 566 NHL games with Washington, Winnipeg, Pittsburgh and Toronto.

The swap means Toronto has eight picks in the 2020 draft.
