Allen Park – The Detroit Lions are expected to have a fresh face or two at running back this upcoming season, but are currently carrying all five of the players from last year’s rotation on the roster after announcing the re-signing of Zach Zenner Friday morning.

Lions running back Zach Zenner has appeared in 20 games for the Lions, rushing for 394 yards on 105 carries.

Zenner, affectionately called "Doc" by his teammates because of his post-football aspirations to pursue a career in medicine, has spent the past three seasons with the Lions after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent out of South Dakota State.

One of the most productive college running backs in the nation, Zenner led the NFL in preseason rushing as a rookie in 2015, earning a roster spot.

In three seasons with the Lions, he’s carried the ball 28 times for 119 yards (3.5 YPC) and five touchdowns. He’s also been a regular contributor on special teams, seeing 281 snaps on those units the past two years.
