On June 13 and 14, eight semi-finalists will present designs for reimagining the campus surrounding the Detroit Institute of Arts.

The public is invited to the presentations at the museum's Marvin & Betty Danto Lecture Hall, which will run from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. both days. There is no charge for attending, but pre-registration is encouraged.

It's all part of DIA Director Salvador Salort-Pons' ambition, in conjunction with Midtown Detroit Inc., to create a "town square" out of the museum's lawns and plaza.

The eight semi-finalists have been selected from 44 applicants.

Semi-finalists presenting June 13 include the Dutch-based UNStudio, Hood Design Studio in California, New York's WXY Architecture + Urban Design, and agence ter out of Paris.

Explaining their concepts June 14 will be Boston's Mikyoung Kim Design, Ten x Ten from Minneapolis, Boston's Stoss Landscape Urbanism, and Spackman Mossop Michaels out of New Orleans.

Each presentation will take 45 minutes, with 35 minutes allotted for questions afterwards.

Three finalists will be selected by the jury, and make their public presentations Jan. 23.
