Jimmy Raye III joins Lions staff as senior personnel executive

The Detroit Lions have added Jimmy Raye III to their staff, as senior personnel executive.

Raye III was most recently the vice president of player personnel/assistant general manager for the Houston Texans, who let him go in April following the NFL Draft.

Jimmy Raye III has joined the Detroit Lions staff as senior personnel executive.

Raye III also has worked for the Indianapolis Colts, where he was the vice president of football operations from 2013-17; the San Diego Chargers, where he worked in several positions from 1996-2013, including director of player personnel from 2008-13; and the Kansas City Chiefs, where he was an offensive quality control coach from 1995-1996.

His father, Jimmy Raye II, was a former quarterback at Michigan State, helping the Spartans win the 1966 co-national championship. Raye II was an assistant coach at Michigan State from 1971-75, and the Lions running backs coach from 1978-79.
