Detroit — Be sure to say hello to the Red Wings at the Oct. 4 season opener at Little Caesars Arena.

They will not be home much after that to start the season.

The Red Wings released their schedule for the 2018-19 season, and one oddity is they’ll play six of their next seven games on the road, spanning Oct. 7-20.

But Little Caesars Arena comes back into play toward the end of October, as the Wings play seven of their next eight games in Detroit from Oct. 22-Nov. 9.

The Wings will host a season-high nine games in November, while in December they’ll play seven of a huge 16-game set that month at Little Caesars Arena.

The annual New Year’s Eve game will take place against the Florida Panthers and begins a season-high five-game homestand (Dec. 31-Jan. 8), which includes a game against the Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals.

The Wings also play five consecutive home games from Feb. 17-26.

March is a road-heavy part of the schedule, with 10 games away from LCA, including a season-high five-game trip from March 19-28.

The traditional night before Thanksgiving game is Nov. 21 against Boston, while Original Six rival Chicago visits LCA Feb. 20.

Toronto visits Oct. 11 and Feb. 1.

The Wings have two home-and-home series this season – Feb. 16 (in Philadelphia) and Feb. 17 (in Detroit) against the Flyers, and April 2 (at LCA) and April 4 (in Pittsburgh) against the Penguins.
