Detroit – It may be hot outside, but hockey isn’t that far away.

Another sign of it – the Detroit Red Wings Monday announced dates for the 20th annual NHL Prospect Tournament and the team’s training camp, both at Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City.

The Prospect Tournament takes place Sept. 7-11, with an eight-team field consisting of prospects from the Red Wings, Chicago, Carolina, Columbus, Dallas, Minnesota, New York Rangers and St. Louis.

Red Wings prospects such as Michael Rasmussen, Filip Zadina and Dennis Cholowski are likely to play in the tournament.

Red Wings players, prospects and tryouts will be divided into teams that will practice and scrimmage during camp.

The annual Red and White Game will take place Sept. 16 at noon.

The Wings open the exhibition season Sept. 19 at Little Caesars Arena against Pittsburgh.

Advance tickets for the prospect tournament and training camp are available at centreice.org starting on July 24 at 10 a.m.
