With Michigan State just a few weeks away from kicking off the 2018 season, the school announced on Monday it will be facing Oregon in a home-and-home series beginning in 2029.

The Spartans and Ducks will square off at Spartan Stadium on Sept. 8, 2029, with Michigan State making the return trip to Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore., on Sept. 7, 2030.

Michigan State and Oregon last played in a home-and-home series in 2014 and 2015.

In 2014, the Ducks rallied to beat the Spartans in Eugene on the way to winning the Pac-12 and reaching the College Football Playoffs behind quarterback Marcus Mariota, who went on to win the Heisman Trophy. In 2015, Michigan State got the upper hand at Spartan Stadium on the way to winning the Big Ten and reaching the College Football Playoff.

Each of those games were top-10 matchups, according to the Associated Press rankings.

The push for Big Ten teams to play other Power Five schools in non-conference play has been underway for a few years. Michigan State begins a two-year run against Arizona State this season and completes a home-and-home with BYU in 2020.

In 2020-21, MSU also has a home-and-home with Miami (Fla.) playing at Spartan Stadium in 2020 before travelling to Miami in 2021.

Here’s a breakdown of Michigan State’s non-conference home-and-home series beyond 2021.
