2-year-old Detroit boy shoots self with dad's gun

Detroit — A 2-year-old boy was in critical condition after finding his father's gun and shooting himself.

The incident happened Monday in the 12000 block of Laing Street on the east side of Detroit, said police.

It wasn't known where in the home the toddler found the weapon.

He was taken to St. John Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The specific nature of his injury wasn't known.

Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
