Authorities also identified the victim as Jamie Lee McManaman, 38. An autopsy showed she was killed by sharp force injuries, they said.

Investigators will present their findings to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office for review of charges

The suspect, earlier identified as Jay Allen Burnett, 34, is slated to remain at the Novi Police Department, they said.

Police said officers were first called to a home in the 26000 block of Indiana Avenue for a welfare check at about 10:15 a.m. Monday.

The officers found McManaman on the floor of her kitchen with multiple lacerations and stab wounds, officials said.

Soon after the discovery, police identified Burnett as the suspect and shared his picture with the media. Within a day, he ended the manhunt by turning himself in to authorities.

Police said he also confessed to killing McManaman.
