While Michigan State running back LJ Scott works to get back on the field as he recovers from an ankle injury, the senior again has encountered problems behind the wheel.

According to court records from 55th District Court, Scott was cited Sept. 29 in Meridian Township for making an improper turn, operating a vehicle without a valid plate and driving without proof of insurance.

Michigan State running back LJ Scott was cited on Sept. 29 in Meridian Township for making an improper turn, operating a vehicle without a valid plate and driving without proof of insurance, according to 55th District Court records.

The violations come roughly a year after Scott was arrested for driving on a suspended license, which came near the end of a long list of driving infractions that occurred in Michigan and in Scott’s home state of Ohio in 2016 and 2017. Most infractions were for speeding or driving without a license. Scott received a six-month deferred sentence for the citation last October. That deferment ended in May.

The latest infraction came the same day Michigan State played Central Michigan. It was the second full game Scott missed with an ankle injury he suffered in Week 2 at Arizona State. He hasn’t played since the Arizona State game with last week’s loss to Northwestern the third straight game Scott dressed but did not play.

Scott’s status for this week’s game at Penn State remains unclear relative to the health of his ankle. Michigan State spokesman Ben Phlegar confirmed Scott is still with the program.
