Detroit Shipping Company seeks another vendor

Cass Corridor food hall Detroit Shipping Company is on the hunt for a new food vendor after Windsor's Bread Meats Bread couldn't obtain a visa to operate in the United States. 

"It is with a heavy heart and a sad stomach that we announce Bread Meats Bread will not be joining our roster of restaurants," Detroit Shipping Company posted to social media last week. "After a significant investment and a prolonged and dedicated effort to obtain their visa (they're from Windsor), they were denied and have had to withdraw. We blame the Trump-Trudeau beef."

Made of 22 shipping containers, the 10,000-square-foot food hall opened in July with Mexican food from Bruno Tacos & Tapas, Southeast Asian-inspired street food from Bangkok 96 Restaurant in Dearborn and Caribbean-fusion food from Coop. Detroit Shipping Company also has a full bar, outdoor beer garden, podcast studio, art gallery and performance space. 

More upcoming food businesses are set to debut soon, including -320 Coffee & Creamery and Motor Burger, which is also from Windsor.

Detroit Shipping Company is located at 474 Peterboro in Detroit. 

Craft sandwich restaurant Bread Meats Bread has a Windsor shop in operation at 33 Chatham E. St. The menu is full of pop culture references like a brisket sandwich called Who Shot J.R. and a veggie option named Lisa Simpson.
