Michigan restaurateur Adam Merkel has expanded his group to Oakland County with the recent opening of Diamonds Steak & Seafood.

Located at 100 S. Main in downtown Royal Oak, this is the second location for the steakhouse; the original is in Howell. The restaurant is holding soft service now, and will officially open Nov. 14.

Designed by architect Ron Rea, the 7,000-square-foot restaurant seats 173 in the main dining area and has a private dining space for up to 50. It was formerly Diablo's Cantina and Memphis Smoke before that.

Like the name implies, the menu will have signature steaks and entrees like wild flounder meuniere and Wagyu beef carpaccio. Dig into a brunch buffet 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays that will run $24.95 for adults and $12.95 for ages 3-10. Brunch starts Nov. 17.

Diamonds Steak & Seafood is open 4-11 p.m. Mon.-Thurs., 4 p.m.-midnight Fri., 9 a.m.-midnight Sat. and 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Sun. Call (248) 291-5647 or visit diamondsroyaloak.com.

Next up for Merkel is to transform the upper level into Pinky’s Rooftop with craft cocktails and small plates. For now that space, formerly Red Fox English Pub, is serving the menu from another of Merkel’s spots, Cello Italian Restaurant.
