Report: Lions' Marvin Jones avoids serious knee injury

Allen Park — Detroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones suffered a knee injury late in the third quarter of Sunday's 34-22 loss to the Chicago Bears. The injury sidelined Jones for the remainder of the game, but further evaluation revealed he avoided something serious, according to an ESPN report. 

The report states Jones' ACL and MCL tendons are intact and he suffered a bone bruise.

Jones left the game after going up for a long pass and landing hard on the Solider Field grass. He attempted to go back into the game after an initial evaluation, before the medical staff told him to return to the sideline.

Through nine games, Jones has 35 receptions for 508 yards and a team-leading five touchdowns. He's just behind last season's pace, when he hauled in 61 balls for 1,101 yards and nine scores.

If Jones is unable to go for next Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers, the Lions are likely to expand TJ Jones' workload, while working rookie Brandon Powell and the recently-signed Bruce Ellington into the mix.
