Michigan, ranked No. 4 in the College Football Rankings ahead of Tuesday night’s new poll release, has won nine straight and is coming off a 42-7 victory at Rutgers last Saturday.

The Wolverines have allowed 21 points the last three games.

Michigan wide receiver Ronnie Bell, top, tries to leap over the tackle of Rutgers defensive back Saquan Hampton (9) during the second half Saturday.

Rutgers coach Chris Ash on Tuesday said the Wolverines are a complete team.

“I saw a team that is built kinda how you want your teams to be built,” Ash said Tuesday on the Big Ten call. “They’ve got a good offensive line, they’ve got a great defensive line, they’re getting good quarterback play, and if you can do those three things you have a chance to win a lot of games. They’re doing three things at an exceptional level right now. All three phases of their football team are very solid. That’s why they’re winning games.”

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said on the call that safety Josh Metellus, who missed the Rutgers game because of what Harbaugh called a “soft-tissue” injury, will practice today and “will see where he’s at.”

Redshirt freshman quarterback Dylan McCaffrey continues in his recovery from a broken collarbone suffered in the Penn State game. Harbaugh suggested McCaffrey won’t be able to return, even if the Wolverines make a late postseason run.

“I don’t have a timeline,” Harbaugh said. “Probably not going to be available. But I don’t know for sure. He’ll be back for spring ball.”
