Auburn Hills — The Pistons have shot poorly from 3-point range this season, ranking 29th in the league, at a paltry 31.4 percent.

They could be getting some help soon.

Luke Kennard, who has played in just three games this season, is recovering from a joint sprain in his right shoulder and is on the road to recovery. According to Pistons medical director Bernard Condevaux, Kennard is on track to return in a couple weeks.

“Our medical staff is pleased with how his shoulder has responded to the prescribed treatment regimen,” Condevaux said in a team statement. “Luke’s rehabilitation process will continue for an additional two weeks with a gradual intensification towards basketball activity.  We will provide additional updates as appropriate.”

Kennard sustained the injury on Oct. 25 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, after colliding with Channing Frye on a screen. The initial timeline was two weeks for him to be re-examined and by all accounts, his initial examination showed good progress.

In the past week, Kennard has been working with the training staff on some light shooting and strength work. He’s missed eight games and with only one game this week, he could miss six more games in the two-week timespan, putting a potential return at Nov. 30 against the Chicago Bulls at Little Caesars Arena.

Kennard is averaging 5.7 points and 1.7 rebounds and went 1-of-2 on 3-pointers.
