Allen Park — The Carolina Panthers canceled their Thursday practice because of heavy rains and the lack of an indoor facility. The Lions, meanwhile, despite having an indoor field, scoffed at steady snow in the Metro Detroit area and held their practice outside.

The Lions and Panthers are scheduled to meet this Sunday at Ford Field.

With a full crew, including chief of staff Kevin Anderson, shoveling the fields, the Lions were down three players for the Thursday session. Wide receiver Marvin Jones, tight end Michael Roberts and defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson were absent.

All three players suffered injuries during last Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears. Jones (knee) and Roberts (shoulder) were unable to finish the contest. Robinson (ankle) returned after a brief absence.
