Recap: UM beats Indiana, 31-20; turns focus to Ohio State
Game summary
The battle may have claimed some casualties, but Michigan rode to a 31-20 victory over Indiana on the back of Jake Moody's six field goals.
Despite collecting 501 yards, Michigan (10-1, 8-0 B10 East) struggled to find balance on the offensive side of the ball. Karan Higdon rushed for 101 yards on 21 carries and Shea Patterson put up 250 passing yards. While the performance from Moody was impressive, all six of his attempts came from the fourth-ranked Wolverines' failure to capitalize in the red zone.
Indiana (5-6, 2-6) moved the ball well on defense. Stevie Scott tore up the Michigan defense, rushing for 139 yards on 30 attempts, and quarterback Peyton Ramsey picked up 51 yards on the ground while throwing for 195.
Michigan defensive linemen Chase Winovich exited the game and never returned.

Michigan defense shuts the door on Indiana's comeback hopes
Injury update: Jenny Taft of Fox Sports reports that injured Michigan running back Berkley Edwards has feeling in his arms and legs.

Before the first-down snap, Devin Bush goes down with a cramp.
Peyton Ramsey's throw on first down misses the mark. He's flushed out of the pocket on second down and forced to throw it into the bench. Ramsey catches the Wolverines sleeping over the middle and throws it to Luke Timian for a 15-yard completion that gives the Hoosiers a first down at the 40.
Mike Majette catches a quick pass for a gain of 4 on the next play. Ramsey's second-down throw is incomplete to Donovan Hale.
Now it's David Long going down with a cramp. Good golly, Miss Molly.
Ramsey is thrown to the turf by Rashan Gary for a loss of 6. Indiana will go for it on fourth-and-12. Khaleke Hudson knocks Ramsey's throw to the turf, and that should just about do it.

Brad Hawkins returns the kickoff to Michigan's 37.
Injury: Berkley Edwards is down on the field with several teammates kneeling nearby after taking a nasty hit on the kick return.
Indiana linebacker Cam Jones was penalized for targeting on the hit that injured Edwards. The play is now being reviewed for possible ejection.
Edwards, a sixth-year senior and brother of former Wolverine wide receiver Braylon Edwards, has now been attended to on the field for about ten minutes. The medical crews are removing his helmet and pads to ensure he has a safe transfer to the stretcher. Extremely serious injury.
Edwards has been loaded onto the cart and transported off the field.
After the penalty, Michigan takes over at the Indiana 47.
Chris Evans rushes for 2 yards on first down. Shea Patterson pulls the handoff and takes off for a gain of 15 yards on second down.
Karan Higdon makes something out of nothing with a 5-yard run on first down. Patterson is off and running again on second down, this time picking up 6 yards for a Michigan first down at the 19.
Tru Wilson picks up 5 on the next play with time ticking off the clock. 2:55 to go here in Ann Arbor. Higdon is dropped for a gain of just 1 on second down.

Patterson takes it himself on third down and is stopped 2 yards short of the line-to-gain. Michigan will try its sixth field goal attempt today.
Jake Moody's 29-yard field goal attempt shakes on its way to the posts, but goes through the uprights. It's a two-score game.

Indiana makes it a one-score game in fourth
After a touchback, Indiana gets it at the 25.
Stevie Scott hauls in an 8-yard reception on first down and runs for a gain of 1 on second down. The Hoosiers convert on third down with an option play to Scott, who picks up 2.
Michigan is called for an illegal substitution and Josh Metellus draws the yellow laundry for pass interference on the next play. That'll be 15 yards worth of penalty yardage that makes it first-and-10 for Indiana at the Michigan 49.
Scott runs for 3 yards on first down. Ramsey scrambles to his left and is forced to toss his pass away on second down. Reese Taylor catches the third-down pass on a crossing route and advances upfield for a pickup of 22 yards that'll give Indiana a first down at the Michigan 24.
Injury: Michigan defensive back Josh Metellus was shaken up on the play and is being attended to by the training staff. He eventually walks off the field and is now standing on the sideline.
Scott rushes for 8 yards on first down and 1 yard on second down to set up third-and-1. Indiana runs the option, and Scott is drilled by Metellus the second he catches Ramsey's pitch for a loss of 4.
Logan Justus kicks it through the uprights from 36 yards out.

Michigan adds to lead with another red-zone field goal
Michigan gets it at the 44. Karan Higdon fights through the middle on first down for a gain of 4. He gets a burst of speed on his way to a 13-yard pickup on second down, making it first-and-10 at the Indiana 39.
Shea Patterson keeps it on first down for a pickup of 2. Tru Wilson gets the carry on second down and gains 5 yards up the middle. Patterson pulls it from Higdon and breaks free for a gain of 19 yards that'll give Michigan a first down at the 12.
Higdon gets 3 yards on a first-down carry. He's tripped up behind the line on second down and loses 1. Patterson tucks it and runs, dodges a defender, and is then brought down after a gain of 5. The Wolverines will have to try another field goal.

Ramsey overthrows a deep shot down the right sideline on first down. Scott rushes for 4 yards on second down. Ramsey shoots the gap up the middle on third down, picking up 9 yards to keep the drive alive.
Ramsey gets rid of it on first down with nothing opening up in front of him. Michigan sideline wants a grounding penalty - they're not going to get it. Scott is dropped at the line by Josh Uche for no gain. Ramsey's thrown on third down falls incomplete. That'll be the last play of the quarter.

Indiana runs some trickery on the fake punt to start the quarter, and Devin Bush makes a nice play to make sure it doesn't end up on SportsCenter.

Michigan drives into Indiana red zone; settles for field goal
Sean McKeon is flagged for holding on first down. That'll back Michigan up to its 10. Patterson throws it away with a defender in his face on the second-down redo. Patterson rolls to the right and goes over the top to Zach Gentry for a 39-yard completion that'll give Michigan a new set of downs at the Indiana 38.
Patterson fakes to Karan Higdon and goes deep again on the next play, but the pass to Nico Collins is broken up. Tru Wilson gets to the right edge and throws his shoulder into a defender while going out-of-bounds on a 15-yard run.
Now it's Chris Evans running hard. He picks up 8 yards, reaching the Indiana 15 with an 8-yard run. Patterson pulls and fires into the flat; his pass is knocked down at the line. Higdon is stuffed hard at the line on third down for no gain.
Injury update: Per UM radio, Chase Winovich is still being evaluated in the Michigan locker room.

Michigan defense bounces back; Winovich exits with injury
Luke Timian brings down a high throw from Peyton Ramsey on first down and picks up 4. Ramsey throws it out-of-bounds with Devin Bush in hot pursuit on second down.
Injury: Michigan defensive end Chase Winovich was hurt on the play. He's being attended to by the training staff. Now Shea Patterson has run out onto the field to check on him. Winovich eventually walked off the field under his own power.
Ramsey shoots up the middle and picks up the first down via his legs with a gain of 8. Indiana has a first down at the Michigan 48.
Stevie Scott picks up another first down on the next play, but Indiana is flagged for unnecessary roughness. That's a 15-yard penalty, but it'll still be first-and-10 from the Michigan 44.
Bush and Rashan Gary get to Ramsey on first down, sacking the Indiana quarterback for a loss of 11. Indiana is back on its side of the field. The Hoosiers try to set up a screen on the next play, but the boys in blue are buzzing. Ramsey fires it into the dirt. Indiana plays it conservatively, throwing a bubble screen to Timian. He gets 2 or 3 yards on the play.
Indiana takes a delay-of-game penalty on the next play.
Donovan Peoples-Jones gets 5 yards on the return, and Michigan will take over at the 20.

On the very next play from scrimmage, Shea Patterson throws his first interception since Oct. 6. Indiana gets the ball at its own 40.

Indiana takes over down 5 from the 25.
Stevie Scott rushes to the right for a gain of 1 yard on first down. Nick Westbrook catches a pass over the middle and gets a few extra yards after the catch for a pickup of 14.
On first down from the 40, Ramsey's throw down the sideline misses the mark. Indiana is then flagged for a false start. Westbrook breaks free over the middle again, this time hauling in a pass for 20 yards.
Scott puts it on the carpet on the next play, and it's picked up by Khaleke Hudson at the Indiana 43.

Karan Higdon rushes for a gain of 1 on first down. Shea Patterson is flushed from the pocket and forced to get rid of it while being chased toward the sideline. Patterson shows nice patience in a closing pocket and makes a tight throw to Donovan Peoples-Jones over the middle that's good for a 16-yard gain and a Michigan first down.
Patterson hits Nico Collins on a quick out route near the sideline for a 13-yard completion that'll make it first-and-10 at the 37.
Chris Evans rushes up the middle on first down for a gain of 7. Michigan goes to play-action and Patterson fires it to Peoples-Jones on a crossing route. The play picks up 14 yards and will make it first-and-10 at the 16.
Tarik Black can't corral a throw from Patterson in the end zone on first down. Higdon dodges a defender at the line and dances forward for a gain of 6.
Injury: Indiana defensive lineman Alfred Bryant was hurt on the play and walks off gingerly with the assistance from the training staff.

Ben Mason runs for a gain of 1 on first down. Zach Gentry is interfered with while trying to make a play on a pass to the end zone, drawing a pass interference penalty. That'll give Michigan a first down at the 2.

Indiana regains lead late in second quarter

Nick Westbrook hauls in a throw from Peyton Ramsey and fights ahead for a 9-yard gain. Stevie Scott runs for 5 yards on second down for an Indiana first down.
Scott is wrapped up by the whole squad on the next play after a gain of 1. Scott dives forward at the line-of-scrimmage with nowhere to go, managing to salvage a 2-yard pickup out of the busted play. Michigan brings the heat on third down, but Ramsey makes a magnificent individual effort to reach the first-down marker with his legs. He just barely held the ball across while diving out-of-bounds.
Scott is stopped for a gain of 1 on first down from midfield. Ramsey goes deep down the sideline to Westbrook, and Brad Watson didn't even look back for the ball. Westbrook hauls it in for a gain of 42.
Scott goes for no gain on first down. Ty Frygogle pulls one in over David Long in the end zone, and Indiana has regained the lead. Michigan's defensive backs have seen better days.

Chris Evans gets 4 yards up the middle on first down and Karan Higdon rushes for 2 more on second down. Nico Collins catches a screen pass and gets good blocking before getting pushed out-of-bounds for a 5-yard gain that'll move the chains.
Higdon rushes for 7 yards on first down. He spins through a defender on second down, picking up 6 yards and a new set of downs at the Indiana 41.
Patterson hits Nick Eubanks in perfect stride over the middle, and Eubanks has a 41-yard touchdown reception.
Michigan can't convert on the two-point attempt.

Indiana takes over at the 25.
Stevie Scott continues to run hard, picking up 5 yards up the middle on first down. Peyton Ramsey drops a dime to Luke Timian, who hauls in the back-shoulder throw over Tyree Kinnel for a 30-yard gain. It'll be first-and-10 Indiana at the Michigan 40.
On first down, Scott picks up 3 up the middle. Lavert Hill is flagged for holding on the next play, setting up first-and-10 for the Hoosiers at Michigan's 27.
Scott runs into Chase Winovich at the line-to-gain on first down for no yardage. He gets 4 yards up the middle on second down.

Tarik Black reels in a 5-yard reception over the middle on first down. Shea Patterson overthrows Donovan Peoples-Jones near the right sideline on second down. There was an open slot over the middle of the field on third down, and that's exactly where Patterson found Grant Perry for a 9-yard gain that'll move the chains.
Patterson then finds Ronnie Bell in the seam on the next play for a 31-yard completion to make it first-and-10 at the Indiana 15.
Tru Wilson runs for 2 yards on first down.Patterson goes over the top to Sean McKeon on second down, but his fade pass is just out of McKeon's reach. Patterson is chased form sideline to sideline before he gets rid of it to Perry, but Perry can't hold onto the ball as he goes to the ground. He looked to be a yard short of the first-down marker, anyway. That's another failed trip to the red zone for Michigan.

Indiana is flagged for a false start, making it first-and-15 from its own 38. Ronnie Walker is dropped by four Wolverine defenders, but primarily Devin Bush, on a second-down run that loses 2. Ramsey has to get rid of it on third down with Joshua Uche in hot pursuit.

Michigan goes to the wide-receiver pass, with Donovan Peoples-Jones airing it out to Zach Gentry in the end zone. The pass falls incomplete but Gentry draws a pass interference call. It'll be first-and-10 at the 18.
Chris Evans takes his first carry of the game up the middle for a gain of 4. That'll do it for the first quarter in Ann Arbor.

Evans gets 2 more yards on second down to set up third-and-4. Gentry was wide open in the end zone on third down, and Patterson's pass was short. Gentry still probably should have caught it.

Stevie Scott rushes up the middle for a gain of 4 on first down. He finds a hole to the left on second down flies up the field for a gain of 35 that'll give the Hoosiers a first down at the Michigan 41.
Ronnie Walker is swallowed up by Aubrey Solomon for a loss of 1 on the next play. Peyton Ramsey's throw on second down falls incomplete. Ramsey escapes from the pocket and finds some room to run, going east and west on the Michigan defense with a 29-yard run that'll keep the drive alive.
Scott brings a finger to his lips to shush the crowd after scampering through the middle of the line for a 13-yard touchdown run.

Shea Patterson takes a deep shot to Tarik Black on the Wolverines' first play of the drive, but the pass falls incomplete. Josh Ross rushes for 2 yards on second down. Berkley Edwards pulls in a 5-yard reception on third down, but it's not enough to move the sticks.
Will Hart's punt bounces out-of-bounds at the 20.

Dwumfour interception halts Indiana's opening drive
Indiana takes the kickoff for a touchback.
Stevie Scott takes the carry on Indiana's opening play for a gain of 4. Michigan cornerback Josh Metellus marks his return to the field with a nice play to break up Peyton Ramsey's second-down pass. Kwity Paye brings Ramsey down on third down - but not all the way down. The Indiana quarterback was just able to keep himself upright, and ran for the first down while everyone else thought the play was dead. That's a 15-yard gain that'll give Indiana a first down.
The play is reviewed and confirmed.
Scott goes to the right side on first down for a 5-yard gain. Ramsey's pass over the middle on second down to Donovan Hale is hauled in for a pickup of 3. Luke Timian gets 4 yards on a third-down reception to keep the chains moving. First down at the Michigan 46.
Scott is stopped for no gain on the next play. Ramsey just whips it down the sideline with nowhere to go on second down. Timian catches a pass over the middle, short of the marker on third down. The Hoosiers will go for it. The pass is broken up by Devin Bush and intercepted by Michael Dwumfour at the Michigan 38-yard-line.

Shea Patterson throws a completed pass to Nico Collins that's good for 14 yards and a new set of downs in Indiana territory at the 48.
Higdon gets the carry on the next play and puts his shoulder down heading toward the sideline for a gain of 8. Higdon picks up the first down and more on second down with a 14-yard pickup on the ground.
Patterson fires to Grant Perry near the sideline for a gain of 3, making it second-and-7 from the 23. Tru Wilson runs for 10 yards on second down to move the chains again.
Higdon gets to the 11-yard-line with a 2-yard gain on first down, and then loses a yard after getting wrapped up behind the line to set up third-and-11. Patterson's pocket collapses quickly on him, and while he's able to stay alive, he can't find an open receiver. He throws it out-of-bounds and Jake Moody will be out to try the field goal attempt.
Moody puts it through the uprights from 32 yards out, and Michigan has an early lead.
