Red Wings' Dylan Larkin out as U.S. eliminated in world hockey championships

Team USA lost its quarterfinal game against Russia Thursday at the world championships, 4-3, without forward Dylan Larkin of the Red Wings.
The Red Wings’ star forward was unavailable, said Wings and Team USA coach Jeff Blashill, after getting hit with a slapshot in the groin area Tuesday against Canada.
“(Larkin) will be fine but out for the tourney,” Blashill wrote in a text message to The Detroit News.
Larkin had five points (three goals, two assists) in seven games in the tournament.
Alex DeBrincat, Brady Skjei and Noah Hanifin scored goals for the U.S., which was eliminated from the tournament.
Jack Hughes of the Plymouth-based U.S. Development Team Program had two assists and was plus-2 in 12:52 and the Red Wings' Luke Glendening was plus-1 in 15:26.
