Police say a man was arrested shortly after an incident on a bus near Woodward.

A bus driver was wounded after a passenger cut him with a knife Friday evening on Detroit's north side, police said.

A preliminary investigation found the pair had "exchanged words" before the attack around 7 p.m. near Woodward and State Fair, authorities said in a statement.

Officers were called to the scene and arrested the suspect, identified as a 26-year-old man, and recovered the weapon.

Police did not release details about the extent of the driver's injuries.
