Game summary
Connor Heyward gave Michigan State a 7-0 lead on its first drive of the game, and the Spartans' defense took it from there.
Michigan State held Tulsa to -73 rushing yards and sacked Golden Hurricanes quarterback Zach Smith six times, scoring on a safety and fumble recovery as the Spartans advanced to a 28-7 season-opening win on Friday night at Spartan Stadium.
