Detroit — While there's little to suggest malicious intent, Los Angeles Chargers holdout running back Melvin Gordon published an ill-advised tweet during Sunday's game between the Lions and Chargers.

After Lions kicker Matt Prater missed a field goal in the second quarter, following a missed extra point earlier in the game, Gordon fired off a taunting tweet.

"Dear Lions kicker, hahaha drinks on me after the game," Gordon wrote.

In most any other situation, Gordon's tweet would be innocuous banter, a playful insult often used when someone is struggling. But the only reason Prater plays for the Lions is because alcohol-related issues led to his release from the Denver Broncos in 2014.

Prater had two DUI arrests during his time in Denver, and was suspended to start the 2014 season after missing compliance testing with the league that year.

His issues have not resurfaced in Detroit, during his five years with the team. He's made 134 of his 156 kicks during that stretch.

Gordon, 26, entered the league in 2015, a year after Prater served his suspension and signed with the Lions. The running back is currently holding out for a contract extension.
