Michigan drops to No. 20 in both polls; Michigan State 25th in AP
Michigan’s football team, after getting crushed 35-14 in Wisconsin Saturday, dropped to No. 20 in both the Associated Press poll and the Amway coaches’ poll on Sunday.
The Wolverines (2-1 overall, 0-1 Big Ten) had been ranked No. 11 by AP and No. 10 by the coaches.
Michigan State (3-1, 1-0) won at Northwestern 31-10 and climbed back in to the rankings at No. 25 in the AP poll. The Spartans remained unranked for the second straight week in the coaches' poll.
Other Big Ten teams ranked are Ohio State sixth, Wisconsin ninth, Penn State 11th and Iowa 14th.
Ohio State moved up to fifth from sixth in the AP poll, passing Oklahoma. The top four remained 1. Clemson, 2. Alabama, 3. Georgia and 4. LSU.
In the coaches' poll, the top five remained unchanged: 1. Clemson, 2, Alabama, 3. Georgia, 4. Oklahoma, 5. LSU, with Ohio State sixth.
