So, who's NOT transferring from Michigan State? There goes another one

East Lansing — The line to the transfer portal continues to grow at Michigan State.

Tight end Noah Davis, a fourth-year junior, became the sixth Spartan to enter the portal and the second in as many days, a team spokesman confirmed Friday. It comes a day after wide receiver Cam Chambers, also a fourth-year junior, opted to enter the portal.

Davis was rated the No. 14 tight end in the nation by Rivals.com coming out of St. Xavier High in Cincinnati in 2016. However, after redshirting his first season, Davis battled injuries and never saw consistent playing time. He caught three passes for 22 yards in 2017 and missed two games because of injury before sitting out all of 2018 because of an injury.

He was healthy again this season but appeared in only four games, sitting deep down the depth chart behind fifth-year senior Matt Seybert, junior Matt Dotson and redshirt freshman Trenton Gillison.

Other Spartans who have already entered the portal include linebacker Brandon Bouyer-Randle, running backs Connor Heyward and La’Darius Jefferson and wide receiver Weston Bridges.

Players who have entered the portal, which was implemented last year by the NCAA, can be contacted by coaches from other programs. The players, though, can remain at their current school while their name is in the portal and it does not mean that player can’t remain at his original institution.

Michigan State (4-3, 2-2 Big Ten) is off this week and returns to action on Oct. 26 when it hosts Penn State.
