Lions defensive tackle Mike Daniels is OK after he was stepped on during Sunday's loss to the Bears, head coach Matt Patricia said.

The Lions lost one defensive lineman on Tuesday, while there was good news about a former Pro Bowler on the unit.

Lions coach Matt Patricia said Mike Daniels (foot) is OK after Sunday's 20-13 loss to the Bears, while Kevin Strong went to injured reserve. To replace Strong, the Lions were awarded offensive tackle Dan Skipper off waivers from Houston on Tuesday.

Patricia said Daniels was stepped on and went through pain on Sunday, but tests revealed no further damage.

"I think he got stepped on pretty badly in that moment and that tends to hurt a lot,” Patricia said Tuesday. “We’ll see how sore he is through the week. But that’s really what that was.”

Daniels played the first three games of the season, then missed the next five with an injury to his right foot, the same one that was re-injured Sunday.

Daniels had his first sack of the season Sunday and has three tackles this year. He walked with a heavy limp in the locker room after the game.

Green Bay cut the 30-year-old right before training camp after his missed six games with a left foot injury in his seventh and final season with the Packers.

Strong, an undrafted rookie out of Texas-San Antonio, re-injured his ribs on Sunday against the Bears. He had five tackles and one pass defended in eight games as a rookie.

Patricia said Monday that Strong tried to return to action Sunday after the injury, but aggravated it again.

The defensive line also was down Romeo Okwara (groin) and Da’Shawn Hand (ankle) coming into Sunday. A’Shawn Robinson suffered a thumb injury during the game but he returned.

Skipper, an undrafted player out of Arkansas, played one game with the Lions in 2017. He appeared in three games this season with Houston. He was with New England earlier this season, and spent practice squad time with Dallas and Denver during his career.

The Lions could have a need at offensive tackle as Rick Wagner was in the concussion protocol after taking a hit in Sunday’s loss. Second-year tackle Tyrell Crosby came on in relief of Wagner.

Linebacker Miles Killebrew is in concussion protocol and was joined Sunday by running back Ty Johnson.

With Johnson leaving the game early, the carries were split between J.D. McKissic and Paul Perkins the rest of the way.

If Johnson can’t go Sunday against Dallas, the Lions could consider elevating Bo Scarbrough or Wes Hills from the practice squad.

All the injury news, of course, revolves around the most important development for the team, as quarterback Matthew Stafford had his 136 consecutive start streak broken because of a back injury. His status going forward is uncertain.
