Bowl recap: UM vs. Alabama; MSU vs. Wake Forest; CMU, WMU, EMU all get bids

Michigan has five bowl-eligible teams with six or more victories – Michigan, Michigan State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan – and all five earned postseason berths Sunday.

Michigan (9-3), which finished No. 14 in the final College Football Playoff rankings, will face No. 13 Alabama (10-2) in the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1 in Orlando (1 p.m., ESPN).

Michigan State (6-6) is headed to New York to take on Wake Forest (8-4) in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Dec. 27 (3:20 p.m., ESPN).

Eastern Michigan (6-6) is staying close to home, tackling 7-5 Pittsburgh in the Quick Lane Bowl at Detroit’s Ford Field on Dec. 26 (8 p.m. ESPN).

Central Michigan (8-5), which lost to Miami in the MAC championship game on Saturday, is headed to Albuquerque for the New Mexico Bowl and a Dec. 21 matchup against 9-3 San Diego State (2 p.m., ESPN).

The third Michigan Mid-American Conference team, Western Michigan (7-5), will play 8-4 Western Kentucky in the First Responder Bowl on Dec. 30 in Dallas (12:30 p.m., ESPN).

As for the College Football Playoff, that was the first news revealed on Sunday as the final CFP rankings were announced.

It will be No. 1 LSU vs. No. 4 Oklahoma, and No. 2 Ohio State vs. No. 3 Clemson in the national semifinals on Dec. 28; both games will be on ESPN.

The LSU (13-0) vs. Oklahoma (12-1) game will be at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta at 4 p.m.

The Ohio State (13-0) vs. Clemson (13-0) game will be the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Ariz., at 8 p.m.
