Commerce Township — The death of a 59-year-old woman found on the bathroom floor of her Commerce Township home on Monday was caused by slash wounds to the neck and authorities have ruled it a homicide.

Oakland County Sheriff Department officials revealed Tatiana Vuichard's cause of death following a Tuesday autopsy. A 63-year-old Commerce Township man arrested Monday in connection with the death is being held in Oakland County Jail. Police said the man is expected to face charges as soon as Wednesday.

Traffic fatalities rose faster this spring than they have in 20 years, regulators said Wednesday.

Deputies discovered Vuichard's body while conducting a welfare check around 10:45 a.m. Monday at the home in the 4100 block of Chesapeake Circle. Vuichard, police said, had failed to report to work at her job as an administrative assistant to the director of community services in the Novi School District, where she has worked for 30 years.
