New York – Comedian Chris Rock says that he has COVID-19 and it’s no laughing matter.

“Hey guys I just found out I have COVID, trust me you don’t want this,” the 56-year-old wrote on Twitter. “Get vaccinated.”

The Emmy and Grammy winner posted his status Sunday morning with no other details. Rock told Jimmy Fallon he was vaccinated during a May visit to “The Tonight Show.”

“I’m two-shots Rock, that’s what they call me,” he said.

Rock also joked that he’d pushed elderly people aside to get inoculated early. Also in May, he kidded on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” that he’d gotten several brands of vaccines to be on the safe side.

Twitter users reacted to Rock’s news with both encouragement and ignorance.

Some wondered how Rock could have gotten COVID-19 if he’s vaccinated. Others explained that vaccinations don’t stop people from coming into contact with coronavirus, but they greatly reduce the risk of serious illness due to infection.

“How much they pay u?” asked one conspiracy pusher.

“That’s the first thing I thought,” replied another.

A Twitter user claiming to be a registered nurse explained a “very simple concept” in capital letters.

“THE COVID-19 VACCINE DOES NOT PREVENT YOU FROM CONTRACTING COVID-19-19,” the person wrote. “IT HELPS YOU FIGHT IT OFF MORE EASILY, REDUCING SYMPTOMS.”
