Lions rule Decker out against Seahawks, place Paschal and Dorsey on injured reserve

Allen Park — The Detroit Lions announced a series of roster moves on Saturday, which included downgrading offensive tackle Taylor Decker's game status to out for Sunday's contest against the Seattle Seahawks, as well as placing two players on injured reserve.

Decker was already considered unlikely to play after he was listed as doubtful for the matchup with the ankle injury he suffered in the season-opener. In addition to Decker, the Lions transferred defensive lineman Josh Paschal and cornerback Khalil Dorsey to injured reserve.

Paschal suffered a knee injury on Thursday, and while coach Dan Campbell said he didn't anticipate it being a season-ending issue, he noted the lineman could be sidelined for a few weeks. Dorsey, meanwhile, missed the entire week of practice with an illness, although he was in attendance for Thursday and Friday's sessions.

Both players will be required to miss at least the next four games before they can rejoin the active roster.

To fill one of those roster vacancies, the Lions signed cornerback Chase Lucas off the practice squad. A seventh-round pick a year ago, he appeared in six games last season, primarily on special teams.

To help backfill Decker's absence, the Lions are temporarily elevating guard Kayode Awosika off the team's practice squad. It remains unclear how the team will approach its starting lineup against the Seahawks with Decker out.

On Friday, Campbell said the team was still working through options, which included moving right guard Halapoulivaati to either left or right tackle and inserting Graham Glasgow into the lineup. Alternatively, the team could use Matt Nelson at either tackle spot, but most likely on the right, while shifting Penei Sewell to the blindside.
